Author's Notes: This is also being used with the picture prompt of “rainy day at park” at justprompts. This is also a bit of an AU.

It had been raining all day, just as people told her it would do in Boston. She was glad she decided to pack an umbrella in her messenger bag that she carried around. There were other things in her bag, but they didn't seem to matter now. She just walked alone in the park, keeping to her thoughts as she did. Her aunts had given her lots to think about before giving her a plane ticket to Boston to see the college. They had said that something special was waiting for her there. She didn't understand it yet, and she wasn't totally sure if she wanted to.

Just a week ago, she had been told she was a half breed, part demon. That her mother had loved her but loved Ellie's father more, so she killed herself to be with him. That made her feel loved, really. Her aunts assured her that she was, but she didn't believe them. How could she, when she knew the entire truth now? How could she trust anyone to fully anymore? Especially people that were pushing her to go to another coast where she was accepted into Harvard University. She didn't understand why they accepted her, but they did. So now she had to meet with councilors and make up a schedule and everything else. Boston was nice, but so chaotic as well.

She twirled her umbrella in her hands and crossed the street. She was in Harvard Square and she liked it here. She was drawn here, more and more, for no good reason but to sit and watch people pass. There was usually music and she listened to it as well. Maybe she would major in music at Harvard. That would be a bit stupid though, to go to Harvard for music. She wasn't sure what she wanted to do, at least in her studies. She sat down on a bench, curled her knees up towards her chest, and hid under her umbrella.

The best part of this rainy day came just a few minutes later. It was in the form of a 22 year old male, possibly British by his clothing, but still very easy on the eyes. She sighed contently as she looked at him from her perch on the bench and her umbrella shielding her from the rain. It was a very good rainy day indeed, as it gave her that little present.
