I know there's a rental agency in Hyde Park - they may not be able to help but they might have a better idea of where you could go.

Having your own non-apartmenty (for a lack of a better word) space is awesome! I love it so much (though I wish we owned).

If you're referring to Chicago Apartment Finders, I called them. They do not cater to the areas I need. Boooooo.

I've been half-heartedly looking at rentals on Craigslist. I really want to stay in the south suburbs, so I've been limiting my search to Homewood and Flossmoor (two good suburbs nearby). But I'm kind of obsessed with becoming debt-free, so I've been aggressively paying off my car and student loans, which is made easier by living at home and not having to pay rent. But then there are days when I really would rather prolong my debt a bit longer if it meant I could get out of this house.

I hear you on the obsession with paying off debt. I've been aggressively attacking mine and it's so overwhelming because I feel like I'm not even making a dent. I will say, though, that once it's paid off I will feel a ton of weight lift from my shoulders.

As for moving, it's touch and go. It's a lot of work and I'm overwhelmed by it. I know I don't want to stay where I'm at. (Meaning that I'd like to stay in the area. Apartment, no.) Beyond that, I haven't got a clue.
