Much has happened. A lot is good. A lot is so-so. Some is just downright pitiful. Unfortunately, I have not had time to commit myself to writing it all down, each effort to journal it up being replaced with a much more immediate need like another Diet Coke or sleep.

You wouldn't believe the number of people who ask me who Chester Arthur is. And I'm not talking about being unable to identify a picture of his head (I wouldn't be able to identify, say, Herbert Hoover's head), but when I tell them and they go, "Who is Chester Arthur?" I sort of... blink a bit.

This is judgmental of me. I'm not a history genius. I know next to nothing about European history, for example, but WHO IS CHESTER ARTHUR? Come now...

a lot of us know him as chester A. arthur. the A. is critical. i actually had to stop and think a moment the first time i read his name in this post.

on the other hand, can you name anything notable he did while president? because i sure can't.

Today it is going to be 88 degrees, and I'm dismayed that I haven't properly been able to break out my tights. We're definitely transitioning though, which is okay. I think it's the first proper fall we've had in a while. (The past two years have brought 80 degree temperatures and humidity to October.)
