Halloween. I've heard talk of it. It is really that time of the year already? People running around pretending to be the undead, among other things. It's always a dreadful time ( Read more... )

The monsters? People or actual monsters?

I would prefer people, but for now just the actual monsters will do.

I don't think there's a person here who would object to you killing a few of the monsters.

I don't think we've formally met. My name is Elena. And you, sir?

Good. I'm sure they won't put up a proper fight, but I'll take what I can get.

Alucard.

Some obscene holiday for the humans in which they dress up and pretend to be monsters, undead, and a number of other things.

Not even the monsters here? Hum.

Why on the fifth moon would they want to do that? Pfft. Humans.

Especially not the monsters here.

They're humans. Why question them?

Why? If you're not human, what are you?

I don't think anyone will object, Mr. Alucard. Just be careful if you go into the graveyard, and stay away from the school.

Oh, and the blood was all right, wasn't it? You'll let me know if you need more?

Also... what's Halloween?

I've already ventured into the cemetery once. It was nothing worrisome.

The blood was just fine, Link. I will need more in roughly a week if you are still willing.

It's a human holiday. They dress up as whatever they please and go door to door for candy. That holiday used to actually mean something. Now it is worthless and rather annoying.

You went in? Wow. I never go into dead places if I can help it. And no worries about the blood. Just say when and unless I'm dying I'll spare you some.

So what did it use to mean?

I'm sure it's for the best that you don't venture in. I can't have my lunch be harmed by what lies in that cemetery.

Halloween dates all the way back to Celts. They had a festival called Samhain. The first of November was the end of harvest so the thirty-first would be the last day of their "year". They also believed that the veil between our world and the world of the undead was thinnest on that night. So they celebrated the return of the dead to the earth for the day. At least back then it meant something, whether it was real or not.

Halloween isn't so bad. But I think a lot of the people here don't really know what it is...

Most have no idea. And it wouldn't so bad if Halloween didn't bring out so many fools.

Maybe there won't be a problem with fools here!

I certainly hope not.
