I think this is supposed to make me feel relieved that Clyde will, eventually, have Token to drive him home...but at the moment I'm just sad that he's been going on as he has all these years, shaken and broken...
(Also, I may have momentarily confused the back story of the Token/Clyde with another fic you mentioned once or twice but aren't going to write, where almost everyone needs someone to drive them home... :/ )
It is a sad/bittersweet song, definitely. And I have a lot of sad/bittersweet Token/Clyde feelings due to the story that I need to finish about them -- it's funny that I thought it would be a Token/Craig when I first started writing it as a PWP!
I didn't remember that one started as a Token/Craig idea! I hope you're motivated to finish it some day, even though I don't think think Clyde will wind up completely okay by the end; bittersweet is better than plain bitter, though, which is what he is now.
(Yes, that's the one. I can't remember who Clyde is with... Cartman, maybe? Because I do remember that Token is with Wendy and I'm guessing Craig is with Tweek...)
Yeah, Cartman! Oh gosh, what a trainwreck that would be, particularly considering the circumstances. But maybe salvageable, I don't know - I really liked how Cartman wanted to get into the ~scene~ in your fic (he would) and was clueless about it. Token was with Wendy, yep. I ultimately decided to make Craig and Tweek straight, I think?! Not that the whole thing was firmly planned out. Mann, I still think about this idea. Maybe someday, if I get better at writing serious stuff.
