Bringing this over to Livejournal - Stick of Truth

Lots of new images from the game! What do you guys think? My main take away, which I may have just missed in previous press releases/images, is that there seems to have been an actual crisis in the town and the kids are using public buildings that are half-wrecked to wage their pretend war. Also ( Read more... )

Has there been any word about how customisable your character can be?

I haven't read a description of it, but it's possible I missed it. I was just wondering, while writing the comment below, if you're allowed to make the character a girl? Since girls are an opposing force in this, I think? (like hippies and goth kids) I wonder how that will play out. I haven't seen any screen shots of Wendy or the other regulars - have I? Maybe I'm forgetting a random Bebe moment or something.

The game informer story from 2011 says you can customize "you gender, name, skin color, hair, and facial features." I've been envisioning something like the avatar creator from the sp studios website, who knows how far off from that it will be. Who knows how accurate anything from that article is anymore. Who knows anything about anything anymore.

Looks like that's no longer the case: http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/04/south-park-the-stick-of-truth-e3-2013-preview/#continued

And though there are plenty of ladies to team up with and battle in the game, South Park: The Stick of Truth only allows players to create a male hero. Probably not a bad thing.

I can't believe I've wasted my life enough to the extent that I fucking noticed this, but in the first shot there's a billboard with "Hall of Honor" on it with photos of dead people: Chef, Crabtree, Choksondik, Pip, and I think that ginger kid. I think. I think that's what I'm looking at:

omg, nice find!! I noticed Ms. Choksondik there, but didn't catch that it was a memorial to the dead thing (frankly I'd forgotten she was dead). I'm so excited to see them including little details like this!! My character is going to die 500 times while he just wanders around looking at shit in the background.

...and the "Butt Out" sign. I wonder if the rest of the stuff in that case references something else and we just can't see it?

I will be lurking around the kids' houses. I really cannot wait to see like, where Stan's laundry room is and what it looks like and what kind of detergent they use. I wish I were kidding but actually, this is where my life is.

Is it just me or there's more Butters images than all of the other kids? It's not that I dislike Butters, but the way they use him/the jokes with him are kind of making me tired already.

I love that Stan is leading the elf kids against humans, because he doesn't seem to have an elf ear too, so maybe he's a renegaded human fighting for justice or something?

Also, in what fic of yours Craig runs the black market? You're right, this is so him (Token would like, provide the initial cash and refuse to acknowledge what has been done with it lol)

I hadn't noticed that, but you're absolutely right. They really do have a hardon for Butters in recent years, yeah, and I went through a period of adoringggg him fandom-wise, but he's pretty hit or miss for me on the show (possibly because their characterizations of him vary wildly from episode to episode). Sigh, maybe he's like the fairy that guides you through Zelda and offers annoying/repetitive advice about how to work the controls. I can see them doing that with him. Also because it's a friend-making game, and Butters would totally be the first one to volunteer to be the new kid's friend.

I love that, too, and I also noticed his lack of ears. I bet he and Kyle start out on Cartman's side and defect to the elves when Cartman is a dick? Not much Kyle in this batch of screen shots, wah. The fact that he's wearing the crown of the gay king in Game of Thrones (which Trey demonstrably watches) is such a wonderful gift of gay Kyle love.

The black market running Craig fic is the War AU. It's a WIP, but I'm about to turn my attention ( ... )

Yes, fandom Butters is easily more likable than the show Butters. Personally, I'd like if all the kids had their turns teaching us how to play (I'd especially love if Cartman tried to trick us into something that would define the progress of the game in his turn, but that's probably asking too much) since Butters isn't the only friendly kid there.

Anyway, I'm excited for the city map (if they actually did it as they said they would) and I can only hope that they won't destroy my headcanons regarding where things are, how far from each other the kids live, etc.

I'll definitely read the War AU fic later! I love your stuff!

Yeah, I never noticed him much on the show (back when I was a casual fan), it was purely the fanfic that got me interested in him/his potential themes.

Oh god, if they don't do the city map I'll be heartbroken, no exaggeration.

Thanks! I hope you'll like it.

Aww, I guess it's a bronco? Stan is a mercenary who fights for whatever side Kyle decides to support, let's be real.

I know, right?? It works for me on so many levels, even the mustache.

Stan is inextricably tied with female anatomy (e.g., the movie.) Because he is gay.

Ever since that time he took hormones and grew a beard and boobs, Stan had a weird relation with female and male anatomy.

Aliens, yay! Aliens sticking dildos up some kid's butt, no!

But I guess that's been their deal from the very beginning...

ikr, I could do without the anal rape side quest .____. according to another story I read this morning, dead cats are a big ... item? soooo idk! I feel like stuff that makes me wince will bug me more in the game than it does on the show, because it's not as fleeting? Also, according to that same article, farts are a HUGE part of game play, which, ugh.

here's the article I'm talking about:

...ew. And I hope this is just extremely poor word choice, because what the hell: "After that confrontation, we learn that Clyde Donovan is now in possession of The Stick of Truth and plans to wage a neo-Nazi war against the humans and elves using an army of reanimated dead cats."

Clyde is a neo-Nazi now? Okay...

Yeah, that took me off guard, too. I ... don't understand why they would go there with his character? Maybe it's just the article writer trying to be clever. Let's hope. Why are all the cats dead, also. :(
