Speculation about this important forthcoming TELEVISION EVENT

But before I get to that: I keep forgetting to mention that I had a dream on Saturday night that Trey Parker was presenting at the Oscars while incredibly high. He pretended to be Nicholas Cage and had to be physically ejected when he refused to stop doing that.

Okay, so: I am insanely excited about this Ike going through puberty and Kyle trying Read more... )

Remind me to tell you this hilarious story Kent told me about this guy we know being "stressed out" over his brother going through puberty. Unless maybe I already told you?

Also, lol'd at you dream. and I'm excited about this week's episode, too!

Okay FIRST OF ALL I'm excited about Kyle going to Mackey (maybe not on the toilet) because Kyle is so the kind of person who who attempt to deal with this SERIOUS ISSUE via proper channels, like through a fully licensed professional with a degree or something. I also feel like maybe this is something Kyle thinks Stan can't relate to fully, because no only does Stan not have a brother, or even a sibling with whom he's actually close, Stan is the younger sibling in his family, so Kyle probably assumes Stan doesn't UNDERSTAND his burden, etc. Of course, the episode might have a scene where Kyle goes to Stan or a scene with Stan or something, but Stan's perspectives on family dynamics are probably very different than Kyle's are. Stan's family is nuts, mostly because everything they do is driven by Stan's father, and Stan tends to take after his mom in terms of passively riding things out. Sometimes he makes comments he handles his family's departures from normality in relative stride. Meanwhile Kyle is much more about everyone being with ( ... )

I agree with the essence of this, particularly the part about having absurdly high expectations for this episode despite the extreme likelihood of being disappointed in it. I love episodes about Kyle's ~family values~ and control issues, so in theory this episode should be awesome. Additionally, I want to believe they'll reference back to You're Getting Old in the sense that Kyle is yet again feeling sort of abandoned by the people closest to him basically "out growing" him either physically or mentally. Even though he's technically older than Cartman by a month, Kyle has always felt like... really young, to me, because like Holly said, he has no real interest in growing up or doing more grown up things. Like Cartman has this preoccupation with puberty and manhood and Stan is just all around more mature than Kyle (I mean he IS like a good chunk of a year older than the rest of them so that makes sense), and Kenny obviously had to grow up fast with his condition. But Kyle for some reason, despite his intelligence and interest in social ( ... )

This is such a delayed response, it's no longer necessary, but I had to drop in just to say that I agree about Kyle being pretty young. He's almost the antithesis of Stan, if you're talking about cynicism, because he's so inclined to trust authority and he functions on the idea that the idea is inherently good and people are inherently good. This is some of what makes Kyle interesting to me.
