Stan/Kyle Super Bowl Fic!

I was very excited that the Broncos went to the Super Bowl this year, for purely SP reasons, and therefore it was kind of a bonus, story-wise, when they spectacularly choked. Because how would Stan handle this?? I feel like this fic is sloppy, but I gave it a shot, and after 6k it is what it is.

I have read this too many times to continue to withhold comment. I'm not sure what exactly has kept me from saying anything, but my best guess is that this story is so good in so many separate capacities that I am still unsure where to start. It's topical, for one thing, and well captures the mood of anticipation dwindling to disappointment, and that becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. It's interesting how that is mirrored all over the story, not just in the main plotline about the Broncos. There's Kyle's career, Kenny's relationship with Butters, and Wendy and Cartman's fat loser kid, none of which are central to the main thing about the Super Bowl but every side story echoes the thrust of the main one. I think the details are perfect, though. Bluebell is adorable and true and I got a huge kick out of Kyle saying "my poor baby" and the cat curling up with him. There's also Kyle's sense of superiority about Kenny's ratty old wig, which is seriously genius, while he himself is wearing gross lounge pants he can't bother to change even

Ahhh, thanks again for leaving a note on this story. Really happy you're into it, since you're the one who originally interested me in writing about them when they're older and cozy but not necessarily living in bliss
