spotting

Jun 17, 2005 00:47

i woke up today with something that i can only define as a "hangover" but it wasn't even similar. i had three drinks over the course of 8 hours last night, slept for seven hours, and drank tons of water. i had no headache, but constant nausea. i imagine this is what vertigo feels like. as my day progressed, it subsided, but i could barely keep my ( Read more... )

I hope you didn't intend that story as a "the lengths women will go to for choice" story. The daughter choose to carry the fetus to term, the mother had no right to what she did.

yeah, I wasn't too sure of the point of this story either...other than a display of a poor command of the English language.

i would assume so, but everything i read advised to call your midwife immediately. i think this is because it may be normal spotting, or it could be a sign of something very severe and permanent, and there is no way to tell without an examination.

i actually read that spotting is only "normal" between the 7th and 12th days of pregnancy, but that if it persists you should definitely get it checked out.

i'm on my 23rd-or-so day since conception, so i don't know. i'll call just to cover all my bases. i don't want this to have to turn into a bigger deal than it has to be.

Hm...wait...

If I recall correctly, it can take 3-5 days for the actual *conception* to take place (past the act of intercourse causing it)...might your calculation be a bit off?

sperm 'can' live that long...but it all depends on ovulation...say you have sex at precicely the right time in your cycle...well...it's possible to get pregnant immediatly...the theory is that female sperm can live in the body for up to 5 days...but that doesn't mean that you can't hit it right on anyways...

so it can actually take anywhere from 1-5 days for the sperm to actually penetrate the egg...from there the egg continues to travel down the tubes until it implants into the uterine lining...from there you may or may not have implantation bleeding...

I've heard morning sickness is common in the first trimester, but *shruggs* whatever.

Anyways, good luck with everything, I hope the spotting turns out to be nothing to worry about.

i had an ectopic a year ago. i didn't even know i was pregnant becuase i was using birth control and i stared to spot bleed the week i was supposed to get my period. you can tell though. the blood is black. and the pain is unbearable. if you catch the problem soon enough they give you a shot and its passed naturally but mine was caught so late i had to have emergency sugery. all this was paid for by my insurace becuase it was an emrgency life or death sugery.

my sister had an abortion through planned parenthood and it cost her nothing becuase of how much money she makes blah blah blah.

How did she get the funding? The clinic here requires money, even if you have no income *at all*, and while they can refer you to some organizations, if the organizations don't have the money, you have to find it yourself.

They also won't provide the funding prior to, I think, 11 weeks. Which kind of sucks, because if you know immediately, making you wait isn't really proving anything, but, yeah.

some facilities (not the clinic i work at) will sign women up for medicaid. (which all pregnant women are entitled to.) and then claim they "changed their mind" so that medicaid pays for it. therefore costing the patient nothing....but costing working americans something!

BUT better than working americans paying for this kid until he is 18 if you ask me :)

Hm, I wonder if that's determined state-by-state...Medicaid, AFAIK, does NOT pay for terminations in Texas, and I have asked several clinics.

I think it *might* be a state issue; my friend was saying that she knows a huge number of illegals (not women, but men, too) were getting treated on Medicaid in California, and in Texas, men over the age of 18 aren't even ENTITED to Medicaid (unless they've been institutionalized, which I don't think was the case in her example).

Hell, Medicaid in Texas won't even pay for birth control, which I think is PATENTLY FUCKING STUPID, but then again, nobody asked me.
