Every once in a while, Nick stopped into the Catscratch Club and got a drink down in the Willows Room. It reminded him of home -- and not just because the club was named after Catherine -- and it reminded him of earlier days on the island, whenever there were so many people from the CSI team on the island

"Shouldn't drink alone, Nick," Jack said warmly. It was slow and he was a little bored and so he pulled out a chair and sat down with the other man.

"At least not when you don't have to. Are you meeting Karen here?"

Nick smiled at Jack as the other man sat down. "Nah, not tonight," he said, tapping his fingers against the side of the glass. "She's got some stuff for the boutique that she's working on. Just felt like getting out of the lab for a while. It was this, or laundry, you know?"

[captainjack]

"This is so much better than laundry," he chuckled. "How's the lab going? We've got some new faces in there, don't we?"

"Pretty much anything is better than laundry," Nick agreed.

Well, this was the island, though. He probably shouldn't say that too often, or else something new and horrible would come up to make laundry look like the best hobby ever.

"Yeah. we've got a handful of new faces. Some real... characters, you could say. Interesting people. Real... lab types, I guess."

What he meant was that some of them had absolutely no people skills whatsoever. That reminded him of home, too.
