There are just too many people in my house ALL THE TIME.  My oldest never found a summer job, so when her boyfriend doesn't have time for her (he has a summer job), she just hangs around "resting up" from the rigors of college before starting the rigors of graduate school.  The younger one has a summer job, but as it is at a "Wild West" re- ( Read more... )

Sounds like those girls need a place to volunteer 6 - 8 hours a day!

I assume you are talking about the daughters, not the doe, Trista?

My younger daughter would be very happy to volunteer at a place like yours, when she does go to work, she runs the petting zoo at the park, she has a way with animals that is pretty remarkable. (she used to run the pony ride concession, but it was too close to the Main Street show area, and some of the riding horses preferred to socialize with her than participate in their roles.)

And now I've been told by the older one that she will be away next week, setting up her graduate school life (signing apartment lease, meeting with advisor, etc) AND the week after she will be attending a wedding in Massachusetts, so she will be gone most of that week, as well.

I love my girls, I really do. It's just that a wee bit of space is a good thing also.

Now I need to solve the deer eating my trees and my husbands snoring...

Yep, the daughters. I'd love to have them, our Farm Minion is less than honest about what he gets done, I constantly have to go check to make sure it's really done. Bad thing that when it involves animal waterers.

For the deer - easy peasy. Take some old nylons and cut them in half at the knees then cut out the panty portion. Fill the nylons (tying knots in each end) with hair and fur - clean out the hairbrushes, combs, sinks, shower drains, etc. Once you've made little bags of hair and fur, hang them in your garden. The smell should stress out the deer and convince them you and your pets are somewhere waiting to pounce on them.

Heck, if you need fur you just let me know! :)

Ummm, hormones? Or the lack thereof? Aside from not having time to yourself. Your "symptoms" (i.e., insomnia, crabbiness) sound very familiar to this Menopausing Person.

My great-grandmother had her own room, separate from my great-grandfather because he snored and she couldn't get any rest. Also, I know a young woman (35-ish) who has her own room--her husband even has a room for magick--and it's not because she doesn't want sex. It's because she wants some "Me Time." If you have the space, I'd go for it if I were you. You can make it romantic...

The daughter need to get out of the house every day to save your sanity and their own lives. Isn't that why Goddess made libraries and parks?

Definitely heading towards being a menopausing person, although I don't know when (mother died too young to go through it, my grandmother was so old when I asked her about it, she didn't remember when menopause started, aunts, sister, close cousin all had various surgeries and avoided the natural on-start)

I would love my own room! But this is a very small house-nobody has their own room.
