{OOC} AU Background Adaptation

Fay and his twin brother Yui began their life on their own. They were abandoned by their parents at an orphanage in Europe because they weren't wanted, and that fact was something that weighed heavily on their minds. They thought they could depend only on each other. But one day, when they were about six, a man came to the orphanage and his eyes fell on them. His name was Shura, he was a professor from India and he had decided to adopt them, he told them, so would they mind leaving there with him? His face and voice were so gentle that the twins took to him right away, and as they arrived in India, for the first time in their lives, they had a home.

Their lives became ones of much travel and academics, because Shura was a professor in high demand and he did not want to leave his new sons behind in India when he was off teaching in various parts of the world. He spent a great deal of his spare time even while traveling teaching them personally and soon the two of them began to blossom into much promise, learning several languages and finding their strengths. Fay began demonstrating proficiency for math and science and his younger twin tended toward the more artsy side of the spectrum and became accomplished at the piano and in the kitchen.

A few years later, due to familial obligations, Shura married a harsh, ambitious woman named Shashi. She was not interested in a family at all, only in the social standing that being Shura's wife gave her, but she thought Fay and Yui were beautiful and often treated them as arm candy without showing them any real affection. They did not see her often due to the fact that they were always taken along with Shura, but they were respectful of her as their "mother" and otherwise simply tried to stay out of her way unless she demanded to show them off.

It wasn't long before Shura and Shashi had a child of their own (though Shashi had not really wanted one). It worried Fay at first, because he couldn't help but wonder if he and his brother would no longer be wanted if their father was now a "real" father, but Shura had smiled and said that simply wasn't the case. The two of them would have to get along with their littlest brother now and teach him and protect him as well, since that was the job of older siblings.

While the newest addition (named Ashura) grew, Shura tried to cut back on his travel to help out with his family at home, but he still needed to support all of them financially (especially because Shashi had extravagant spending habits) so he was still obligated to leave. Fay begged him to leave him and Yui at home now, because he did not want to burden him further and because he wanted to help take care of Ashura in his father's place. Reluctantly, Shura agreed and Fay and Yui now did the best they could with their littlest brother.

After this arrangement had been going on for some time, Shashi grew infuriated with being left alone with children so often until finally she decided she couldn't take it anymore. She called Shura one day to say she was leaving him, packed her bags, and then tried to take Ashura with her to use as a tool in the divorce. Fay refused to let her break up their family and a scuffle ensued, during which Fay was knocked unconscious.

When he came to, he was in a hospital with Yui and Shura at his side. Though Shura tried to protect him from finding out the circumstances, it wasn't long before Fay became aware of what had happened while he was unconscious: Shashi, declaring that if she couldn't have Ashura to use as she pleased, then no one could, had tried to kill his littlest brother.

Guilt set in. He hadn't been able to protect Ashura and Yui had had to witness all of that. He couldn't protect them. As a result of this guilt, Fay spent the remainder of his adolescence and the beginnings of his adulthood taking very careful care of his siblings. He taught Ashura personally when Shura wasn't around and oversaw his younger twin's growth into a world-class chef (all while continuing his own studies in science). He even (with Shura's help) managed to get Yui set up in a restaurant in Italy, where his food quickly became famous. Then came the recruiters from Quo Vadis Academy for Ashura, and Fay could not have been more thrilled to help set his littlest brother up in a top school.

Then, he had no idea what to do with himself.

Good thing for him, then, that Julian came back, proclaiming Fay a wasted resource and demanding that he come teach science at the school. Fay readily agreed, because what better way to look out for his littlest sibling again (and, of course, follow in his father's footsteps)?

(Fay will not confide any of this easily to anyone, so if any of it comes out, feel special! XD)
