Yeah, I was very confused when I first heard about Colombus day. "So, um... they're celebrating what, exactly? The extermination of the natives or... uhhh?" I'm still a bit confused, actually. *scratches head some more*

You should be confused. B/c it's fucked up. We celebrate Columbus because he "discovered America." Seriously. That's what we're taught in school.

Funny thing is - that's what we're taught, too. :| Our history books also pleasantly ignore the slaughter of many, many people. Yaaay! :|
