Upon learning about Bin Laden's death . . .

I'm now sitting here attempting to finish up a midterm while waiting for President Obama's address . . . This is all so strange and surreal to me. News of a violent death that was preceded by unimaginable amounts of suffering and hundreds of thousands of other deaths is something that will never make me feel happy, victorious or celebratory. Also, since this is already happening on fbook, I'm going to cut any comments containing a certain patronizing, simplistic question off at the pass ( ... )

I guess this was bound to happen sooner or later... still, it's strange. I don't think that a human being's death is something to be celebrated, but I guess I'm not... I don't know, I'm not too sad about it, either.

I guess it's a bit different from the other side of the world. the first time I saw the towers in one piece was the last - I didn't even know they existed before their destruction.

I wonder if this will change anything. where do we go from here? And fuckitall, will these wars EVER end?

maybe I'm a horrible person but there is not necessarily a sense of justice, but definitely of relief kind of like all the shit and problems he inflicted upon us all and their consequences have been lifted as a burden on our world.

I get what you mean though...nobody wins. Not even a tie. Everyone loses in the end. YOu'd think we would have figured that out by now...yanno after centuries of war.

Btw who could ever FORGET 9/11...sorry unless you were in a coma or something you'd have to be pretty out of the loop to manage that.

This news derailed my work on a paper last night. But I really agree with everything you've said. I was happy at first but then I began to to think that this death will likely trigger other deaths.

I saw this all over FB last night and this morning...and I don't know, I guess I'm kind of "apathetic" in that is this really a "victory"? Just more and more killing. =/ And I have to admit, part of me truly wonders...is the real Osama still out there, since he had so many look-alikes, you know?

But I definitely think that this publicized death will inspire more and more violence. :(
