Apparently, real survival involves saying to hell with the rest of the world, and NOT cooperation or finding other survivors. This test doesn't quite blow chunks, but I think the designers believe in the Lone Gunman philosophy of survival.

But then, I'm arguing realism while discussing a Zombie Apocalypse. Sleep

Are you inferring that the coming Zombie Apocalypse is not only "fantasy" but something we should not be prepared for? SF has this whole 72hours thing going (can you survive on your own for 72 hours in case of the big one?), well, I think we need a "72 days" thing. Can you survive on your own and beat back the Zombie Horde for 72 days? If not, perhaps it's time to start preparing.

No. In fact, I'm implying - and now stating outright - that the survivability of the Zombie Apocalypse will be largely dependent upon the variety of zombie we can expect to encounter. There are several sorts:

The slow, very stupid, tireless and super strong variety.
The slow, cunning, tireless and super strong variety.
The slow, very stupid, tireless and normal strength variety.
The slow, cunning, tireless and normal strength variety.
The fast-walking, very stupid, tireless and super strong variety.
The fast-walking, cunning, tireless and super strong variety.
The fast-walking, very stupid, tireless and normal strength variety.
The fast-walking, cunning, tireless and normal strength variety.
The fast-running, very stupid, tireless and super strong variety.
The fast-running, cunning, tireless and super strong variety.
The fast-running, very stupid, tireless and normal strength variety.
The fast-running, cunning, tireless and normal strength variety.

... you get the idea.

Well, aren't they technically correct in saying that you have a greater chance of staying alive if you don't stop to help others? I mean, they don't claim to be saying anything about quality of life.

That's pretty much what they're saying, but by the same token (and said token is my point), your chances of survival increase dramatically when you have other people watching your back, taking on assignments, building fortifications, making supply runs in force, etc.

One man alone can do it - but it's neither the best nor the most sure way of living through World War Z. Or, at least, that's my opinion. Thoughts?

Ah, good point about people watching your back if you watch theirs. 'Fraid I don't have any other thoughts--I mean, I basically agree with you.
