Think about it this way. In high school, hopping from relationship to relationship do raise eyebrows. But as you grow older, people tend to have more prospects/go out on more dates. Youz a hot mama, you're bound to always have suitors waiting in line. I mean, maybe it's social conventions, but I usually think that 20somethings are perpetual daters. That's how they find out who they really like, who they're looking for, who they're not looking for, and who they want to be with for the rest of their lives. I think it's quite normal.
You've been single/independent before, and you still can be. You can also be dating and independent. Just because you're with a guy, doesn't mean that you're giving up a part of yourself. Don't think too much about it. Just go with it and have fun, see where it takes you. We'll giggle about it over winter break. :)
