"these days it seems like most people have ceased to think for themselves."
I wonder how many people have said that exact same thing.

"But has the media come out and said that they were wrong?"
media is like a naive child feeding other naive children full of stories of scary monsters that live under their bed when really... there’s nothing of the sort.

"'There is another kind of evil that we should fear, and that is the indifference of good men' <-----'boondock saints'"
Truth, but would, more importantly could, a good man be a good man if he did not stick his head in the sand?

in answer to your question of about a good man being good, whilest sticking his head in the sand; my belief (belief mind you) follows that cheesy spiderman quote: "with great power comes great responsibility."

But despite its inherent campyness I think it holds true. It is the duty of those with strength to protect those without. If you see someone getting bullied and know that you could protect him/her, I think it is your duty to do so. The weak, the innocent, the idealistic must be protected.
Maybe its a question of courage, or faith, or self-esteem. I'm not sure, but I'd do whatever I could to protect another. And my methods do violate my own ideals, I know still that its right and necessary. It may seem hipocritical, but I guess its a question of priority
