God when friends confuse you are they really friends?

I have one friend who constantly im's me to "cheer me up" by telling me about her love interest and how he talked to her today

just stop talking to them. when they IM you be like, "gotta go" but don't go or put up an away message, and ignore later messages from them. then later be like "sorry dude, but i'm really busy this week." then avoid them all week and as long as you can.

once that happens, you can always get a new screen name, and not tell them. heh. that's what i do anyway.

YOu could always name them on your LJ, and make sure it gets back to them ;)
that should work in getting them to stop talking to you.
