[When flipping through their journals, the residents will encounter an entry that seems to consist mostly of scribbles. If one squints, they may be able to recognize the alphabet, but that'll be quite the chore. People from Efinea already have peculiar handwriting, but thanks to Lambda's complete inexperience with putting a pen to paper, it came ( Read more... )

[ Your scribbles interest Sophie, Lambda.

So she is going to scribble back, but hers don't even come close to resembling any type of writing. They are literally just scribbles, nothing more. ]

[It takes Lambda fifteen seconds to realize the scribbles weren't intended to be letters of any sort. Then he just turns on the journal's voice function.]

What?

[ A voice came out of it! Just like that time with Asbel! Except this time it's not him and she doesn't know how to respond. Why did he ask "what"?

... So she just scribbles more. ]

[This is... ... He gives up, he has no clue what that's supposed to be.]

I don't understand.

[In the process of sifting through the journal, Hubert's hand stops mid-motion when he notices the entry. He stares for a good minute or two, and has the sneaking suspicion that the scribbles are supposed to be the alphabet -- whether or not its theirs remains to be seen. Just to be sure, he responds. In much neater penmanship, of course.]

The alphabet?

[ . . . That's a yes, right? Between the alphabet and this level of illegibility, this person has to be a child. Or someone with really, really bad handwriting.]

Why would you write the alphabet on this?

[Look on the bright side, Hubert. At least he knows how to spell.]

[When Richard sees this entry, he recognizes immediately what Lambda is trying to do, and thus he pens out the entire alphabet very carefully and neatly for him to see.]

[He pauses for a few seconds, watching Richard's letters closely, before trying to copy them. It's an improvement, but only barely. He's going to need a lot of practice because he's capable of writing properly.]

[Richard is quiet for a moment, thinking, before he speaks.]

... Lambda, would you like to try something?

[There aren't many people in Luceti who know the Efinean script, and Hubert, Pascal, and Richard are too experienced to be so sloppy now... And Sophie doesn't know how to write, so that leaves just one person left.]

...Did you run out of paper, Lambda?

... I understand.
