So I heard this guy was pushing the "America was founded as a Christian Nation!" thing, by trying to say the Founding Fathers were his variety of Christian, but that wasn't what made me facepalm. No, he was trying (of course) to justify it by talking about the Founding Fathers, particularly Thomas Jefferson

I didn't catch their name. The "Founding Fathers were Christian!" thing is pretty widespread though. For example, this set of quotes, which includes a couple from Thomas Jefferson, and is Massively Missing the Point. Not to mention the selective quoting of several of the others, too.

Let me google and see if I can find it.

I had one the other day claim that we know the Founding Fathers were Christian and wanted a Christian nation because of "In God We Trust" on the money.

Never mind that didn't show up until post Civil War.
