An "I told you so" two years in the making...

Sigh.

So, this is good news. Great news, in fact. Still, I sort of loathe to admit it, because I promised myself I'd never be one of those people...

I've officially changed my dissertation topic. )

I think it's timely *and* interesting, and something I've been poking at desultorily for a while. I think if you asked 100 fans about the good/evil/meh of mainstreaming fandom, you'd get 100 different answers based on privacy, based on safe spaces, based on being used, based on acceptance...based on wanting people to buy their CDs ( ... )

This rearticulation (at least, this informal version of it) makes a great deal of sense to me.

this sounds awesome! and yes, far less draconian than "changed" might suggest. certainly you can still use what you'd done already, and what's unwritten is always fair game. I think it's going to prove a really smart move (though I'll keep you posted on how convergence + fandom floats on the job market for me). I love our acafan network!

Belated thanks for the support, and definitely keep me posted on the job hunt. Let's face it, if you don't land a great job off the fandom+convergence model, there's little hope for me! I heart the acafan network as well, and I can't wait to get some of this diss up to snuff and get your thoughts!
