BUT WE ALREADY FRANDS BRUNOgangster_starMay 15 2011, 05:13:48 UTC
[And here is a Giorno, sitting on the other side of the turtle room (also known as Coco Jumbo the turtle Stand user) with a magazine in his lap. He catches Buccellati looking at him (his own intuition sharp, observant as usual) and Giorno's gaze travels up and towards his senior, calmly but inquisitively.]

[Buccellati tries for a split second to look like he's going to talk to the boss's daughter like a good operative, but... Dammit Giorno, shut up! I'm trying to be cool over here!]
Wrong? Other than being hunted from every angle, you mean? Not at all.
BUT I THOUGHT WHAT WE HAD WAS SPECIALgangster_starMay 15 2011, 05:21:35 UTC
[Giorno keeps quiet for a few seconds after Buccellati speaks, almost as if to respectfully consider his elder's statement-- but the moment passes and he responds again, calm and composed as usual (infuriatingly, as Abbacchio may describe it).]
I don't believe being too tense will ameliorate the situation any. Maybe it would benefit you to sit down for a moment-- it's safe in here, for the time being, at least.
[Of course, Giorno takes one, though he doesn't move to open it yet-- he's not particularly thirsty, but it doesn't feel right, refusing something that Buccellati offered.
He uncaps the bottle slowly, taking his time with it.]
The broader picture, obviously. I know we're after the same things, in a sense, but I'm wondering why. Granted, I did come to you, but you defeated me with... relative ease. There were a lot more ruthless ways to go about this. So I'm asking.
'I AM AMAZING' <--FIXED THAT FOR YOUgangster_starMay 16 2011, 03:18:15 UTC
[SHUT UP BUCCELLATI YOU LICKED MY FACE]
I understand that there were more ruthless ways to go about fulfilling my dream. But I also acknowledge that the ruthless ways were also reckless-- in order to gain status in the gang, the surest way was to join it.
[He's explained this before, so he pauses, thinking of other ways to articulate himself. He's spare with his words (he hates wasting time, wasting syllables), but he chooses them wisely.]
If I wasn't so sure about the quality of character you had when I first met you, I might have not taken this specific route, however.
[The corner of Bruno's lip twitches a little. Character. Hah.]
Do you think I'm dense? That I can't see through to your character easily? I don't pull just anyone into this.
There's more to it, isn't there? A guy like you doesn't aspire to just be an incredibly notorious criminal, in charge of things, or even people. Isn't there something else?
[He states it as if the phrase should speak for itself, but he knows that he trusts Buccellati enough to expand upon that ambiguous assertion.]
Just as you find the hypocritical nature of the gang to be problematic, I also have things about Naples that I find problematic. You don't think I'm here because I want the notoriety, yes?
[He looks at his elder levelly, searching.]
Even with the most immoral of means, there's a way of bringing about change. Of upkeeping what needs to be protected. Isn't that what's important?
Things you find problematic... [Bruno relaxes a little, leaning against the back of the couch.] That much, we're agreed on. With the position we're in, morals take a backseat to efficacy.
[And he glances across the turtle, eyes scanning over Trish (half-frightened, knee drawn up to her chest) and the others. Narancia, small, easily influenced, tussles with Mista, a little world away from the danger he knows they're in.
Honestly, how safe is hiding in a damn turtle? Sometimes he feels like they're just waiting to be found...]
There are a lot of things that need to be protected, but we can't do them yet. It's ironic, to have these powerful Stands but still be so vulnerable.
[Especially considering that said turtle has a HUGE KEY on its back... but this is Jojo world and there is nothing strange about that at all, apparently.
BUT META ASIDE, Giorno waches Bruno watch the rest of the team, observing the scene through his superior (interesting, to call him that, since one day he's the one that's planning on becoming the Boss). Though he likes to use his own pair of eyes, he trust Bruno, trusts the older man's intuition, and is fine with letting Bruno lead him when necessary.
Bruno is the first friend he's made in his life, really, and Bruno is also his mentor, in a sense, after all.]
Morality can take on strange forms-- at least, that's what I believe. We may not be able to pursue it as stringently as we'd like, but every step forward is a step forward, nothing else.
Morality isn't black and white. The shades in between are where people like me--like you--are destined to be. We chose the path we're on, and we are stuck with it, for better or worse.
If you can see the good at the end of what you're doing, it makes it acceptable.
[Though, speaking of the meta... It's not as though Bruno doesn't think about what's going to happen on this path they're on. Why is he bothering to forge bonds with someone who is, ultimately, ideally going to be his final opponent for power? He doesn't want it in the same way Giorno does, this much is clear, and their reasons must be vastly different...
But he won't hesitate if it comes down to a duel. It's a harrowing thought. What would he do if it was Fugo, or Abbacchio?]
[The opened bottle of water goes to Giorno's lips, and he takes a sip, using the moment to think about those words. He hasn't discussed any of this with anyone else on the team, and he doesn't plan to until absolutely necessary; he likes Mista and Narancia's obliviousness, finds it almost refreshing in light of the ultimate goal that he's striving for.
But really. Talking to Bruno about things like this relaxes him. It's a reminder, and while Giorno never stops reminding himself, discussing what's really in his heart with someone he trusts is a calming experience.]
I can. And that's why I'm here, to answer your question. Is that satisfactory?

Buccellati grabs a couple of chilled mineral waters and goes to sit beside Giorno. He hesitates for a moment, then hands one over.]

Is there something on your mind?

[Which means yes. Which means this is awkward, and awkward is pretty rare for a guy who licks faces.]
...Why are you here?

...Not that anyone is being shy here, but whatever. Giorno will now headtilt at you.]
In the turtle? Or is the question about a broader picture?
