Testing for Disciple

Oct 01, 2011 23:11

Option One[The Disciple was restless tonight. She could not say for certain what the reason was, but she had long since realized that this day she would not be getting much rest. That was why she had left the comfort of the tent shared by her and her companions, and seated herself under a nearby tree in order to grant her some shade from the ( Read more... )

I wouldn't go out there, were I you.

[The voice is soft, reasonable, and resonating from past one of the other doors in the mysterious hive. If she opens that door, it will lead to a densely packed forest in early afternoon, the brightness of even the weak earth's sun dampened by a thick canopy of green leaves.]

[When she heard that voice, she wasn't shocked. Not because she had been expecting it, but because after so long it took her a moment to even recognize it for what it was. Only when she realized they had been words, and not just some strange sound did her entire body tense.

She waits for any more words to come, but when they don't she knows she will only figure out who they belong to and what is going on if she follows. So follows it, she does and when she sees the forest she feels herself relax a little.]

Hello? [Her own voice is very quiet, and slightly raspy from some many sweeps of underuse.]

Hello.

[Something shifts among the high branches of one of the older, sturdier trees. Bright shining, reflecting the dappled light off the silvery scales of what has to be the largest snake in history, thick around as a man's torso at it's widest point.

That's a rather exact measurement, actually, as where the head of that snake should be, there is instead the upper body of a man with fangs and claws and a gentle smile in contrast with everything.]

[Typically, the fauna and creatures of Alternia make those of Earth look like nothing more than tiny kittens and puppies.

This time? Not so much. In all her years the former Disciple had never seen one quite like this. The upper portion of his body looked vaguely troll--but its skin was of an odd shape and it had no horns.

Her entire body went on alert, but for now she kept her gauge until she could figure out just what this creature above her was, and its intents.]

My. I cannot claim to have seen one such as you in my lifetime. [Despite the feel that she was in the presence of a predator, she had to admit she admired his colorful scales somewhat.]

This is your abode, I take it?

[PM hopes not to startle her sudden guest, as a plummet into the void seems like it would be completely unpleasant. She coughs politely, bringing a hand up to her mouth to muffle it a bit in lieu of cloth. After all, this is her home on Prospit--why should she wear an exile's shroud here?]

Greetings...?

[She tenses, but keeps from jumping and slowly turns around to face her whom she can only assume is the troll who brought her here.

Needless to say, when she sees PM she can't help her surprise. She had never seen a creature like her before (had it not been for the voice, Mag would never have even identified her as female).

She deliberates for a moment, clearly caught of guard but she keeps the impolite question from springing out of her mouth]

Hello. [The word comes out a bit strained, speaking is something nearly forgotten to her.] Is this your hive?

I'm sorry. "Hive"? [PM doesn't want to be rude, but that is an odd word to use. Then again, she is trying to avoid being rude to a person who is standing around with the door open.]

This is my apartment. Is that what you are asking?

[Of course the word apartment was just as foreign to her, and for a moment she just looks at her in confusion.]

Your residency? [Hopefully. That one will work.]

[Nepeta knew that since the destruction of her dreamself she shouldn't be sleeping, but sometime she just got so tired that she couldn't help it. most of the bubbles seemed relatively harmless, especially this one. she'd even taken her hood off as she settled into the respiteblock that no longer existed in reality.

and then there was the sound of someone moving in the other room. in a flash Nepeta's hood is up as she skitters to the door, cape swishing behind her. she carefully pokes her head into the other room, calling out softly]

Hello? Who's there?

[She stops at that sounds, and looks over her shoulder to be greeted with the sight of a small, hooded head peering out from one of the rooms. The cloak, combined with its color made something in her ache and set a deep frown upon her face.

The troll was a young one, Mag could easily tell that so she did not feel threatened. Despite the unpleasant memories that surfaced she turned fully to face her and...raised a hand up? Where once such a gesture had been one she barely even thought about, now it was hard to recall if that was a form used to greet one another. If not, it would at least show the other troll she carried meant no harm.]

hells yeah fakecrab October 2 2011, 04:31:43 UTC
[it was an older troll, older than any Nepeta had seen in her life. she almost tenses up more from the ramifications of that, but she didn't seem to be threatening at all. in fact she was...waving? sort of.

maybe she'll regret it later, but she raises a hand of her own and waves back. Nepeta had never had guests over at her hive, and even if this wasn't technically hers it was close enough.]

Are you lost? I've never seen anyone in my bubbles before.

Bubbles? [she echoed the word, once again looking outward towards the others. Were they in one like that?]

I suppose I am, though how I wound up here, I do not know.
