I'd just like to say that both Toshka and I are ready to go home.

As a side-note, I believe the version of La Vida es un Carnaval that most of us ballroom people listen to is sung or performed by Michael Chacon, not Celia Cruz. And having listened to various versions, at least one being performed by Celia Cruz, I prefer the one which is performed by Michael Chacon. Besides, that's the one played at competitions, and the version that Lee plays when playing the samba of that title at College Nites.

Well, I like the Celiz Cruz one better -- and you know why? Because I [gasp] DON'T LIKE SAMBA!!! (At least not the ridiculously Europeanized ballroom version -- I do like the authentic sambas.) My (proper!) version of La Vida es un Carnaval is a SALSA. :-P (I stick my tongue out in defiance!)

Well, your attitude is refreshing. Really, if I got exposed to authentic samba, I might agree with you on that. Since this has not happened, I can only say that I like the ballroom version of samba right now. Besides, it has my favorite music, in so far as a fair number of the hindi film music I listen to can be danced as sambas. My bias.
