Good thing about getting a new phone is that ... well, you get a new phone.
The not so good thing is that they pre-loaded a new sim card, so now I have to transfer my contacts over to the new phone. By hand.

Most phone companies offer on-line storage/backup of your contacts. (This won't work with all phone models.) You can use this to upload old contacts and download to your new phone.

There is a little machine that can transfer contacts from one phone to another. WHY the phone companies don't tell us this I don't know. I only found out about it through work when our verizon rep came in. Take both phones and go into to a full service store.
