So, I was petrified with fear that my family would hate me once they found out I was gay. Luckily, most of them seem pretty chill with it.

Stoll, I can't help but feel that one of my aunts and one of my cousins really don't like the idea on a base level. Their religious faith is very strong, and they both believe that God condemns homosexuality. I ( Read more... )

:; hugs:: I'm very glad that most of your family seemed to accept it, and at the very least that no one started screaming at anyone, you know?

As for the whole homosexuality is a sin, it's bullshit, and we know that. Unfortunately, a lot of people cling to these beliefs because they find homosexual sex "icky" and want to justify it. Stupid, yes,but that's why they do it.

Thanks *hugs* I was surprised that they were all so chill about it, but I had a nice conversation with my godmother and her daughter, and it really makes me feel like I'm a part of the family, and not just the 'black sheep' so to speak.

Well, sounds like it went pretty well. :)
Of course it can be shaking for people to have religious beliefs and blood collide like that, but hopefully they'll grow to accept it or at least find some compromise they can be comfortable with in time. ^_^
