Ran away from home yesterday, am now staying with a friend for the weekend, until I can figure out where to go next.  I need a job and an apartment, but I have no idea how I'm going to get either.

I know, I mean, it might seem like a good solution but it's NOT. I don't think she truly realizes how much work, effort, danger and suffering she will be thrown to if she stays away from home.

I can't see how it could even be considered a good situation. If you fuck up your college career by running away from home and dropping out of school, you will work in fast food for the rest of your life and you will hate it. I know this. I've seen it happen.

Christ almighty, I'm 24 and sometimes I wish I could go back and live with my parents. Life outside the home is hard and for someone as young as Fortuna it's practically goddamn impossible. This isn't a story. This isn't a fantasy. If she does this her life is going to suck insurmountably. There's no guaranteed happy ending- in fact all odds are against it unless she goes back home and continues to persevere with her college career.

I don't know, I want her to be all right and to be happy. But I know that she'll- that you, Fortuna- will be neither if you keep walking down that path
