[Like a moth to the flame. Zero had been trailing around the forest in search of any leads on the Malnosso, only to hear what sounded like a thunderstorm on steroids in the distance. So he decided to investigate, and is now standing between some trees about thirty feet in the distance.

Not that he expected to see human responsible for the action, so his metaphorical jaw is kinda hanging to the ground now.]

[Human isn't quite the word for it. But the point is taken, nonetheless. Yuan doesn't quite notice Zero standing there, so he'll raise his saber to try again. Stop him or watch him cast the spell again?]

[Zero's just going to watch attentively for now, looking for weaknesses and gauging his strength.]

[In the case of strength, Zero might want to note the saber Yuan's spinning over his head with ease would probably weigh a ton. Weakness aspect, well, he's so lost in spellcasting he wouldn't notice an attack coming his way right about now. There he goes again... A smaller spell, this time.]

[Rydia enjoys wandering far from town; in the forest, she's able to pretend she's not a prisoner, at least as long as she avoids getting closer to the barrier. There was no goal to her wandering this time, merely following her whim of the moment.

She walks in the vicinity of the clearing, when the crackle and the sharp lightning bolt catch her attention. Curious, she wanders over and inspects the person found within.]

[Yuan didn't think he'd approached by a curious woman, but he certainly wasn't expecting her to ask something like that. He'll just lower his weapon, looking slightly confused.]

Yes. I have learned some magic in my world, and a little from the spirits here. But I'm always interested in seeing the magic of those from other worlds, too.

Glad you're not someone I know. How long does it take to master lightning in your world?

[Oh, he so caught that whisper with ease.]

It depends what you mean by "master". Most people aren't able to use lightning magic at all.

[Well, Rita was only in the forest looking for something she'd read about in the library, but the giant lightning bolts in the sky are decidedly more important! She's been pretty curious about how magic works in this world for quite some time now, so she can't help but be interested in someone who may be contacting one of Luceti's elemental spirits.

So here she is, wandering over to get a better look at what's going on.]

[Well, contacting the elemental spirits isn't really the problem. After a year of being stuck here, Yuan's as much of a friend with the lightning spirit as he can be. Actually getting that magic to do what he's intending right now, though, is a different matter.

He's just going to stick his weapon into the ground and lean on it for a moment, staring at the charred grass. Yeah, he's not looking that pleased.]

[Even that's pretty fascinating for her, to be honest, since she hasn't actually spoken to one of them herself just yet. Whatever he just did was pretty good, too, even with that annoying cap on his strength.]
