[action] Did someone order the irony platter?imatreenowNovember 12 2010, 17:26:17 UTC
[ooc: Assuming this is after Yuan has already visited with Kratos?]
[Oh look, Yuan. Look who's walking in the road up ahead. It's just who you wanted to see, isn't it? Mithos has already ditched his New Feather garb for his own familiar clothes, which had been conveniently located nearby when he arrived in Luceti. The previous night, during which Mithos discovered (much to his annoyance) that sleep is not only possible now but a necessity, was spent in the woods. This morning, he has wandered into the village to search for, of all things, food. It's all annoyingly pathetic. He may have calmed down somewhat since his arrival, but he is still very tense inside and very, very volatile. The trivialities of a mortal body are certainly not helping. He has one good thing going for him though, and that is that he hasn't noticed Yuan...yet.]
[It's a good thing Yuan's been trying to sense Mithos' mana signature. Once he picks up on it and pinpoints where it's coming from, he's sure to hide himself behind a nearby building and mask his own signature as much as possible. It's not foolproof; a mana signature can't be completely hidden, but as long as Mithos isn't specifically looking for it, he may not notice it.]
[Mithos pauses a moment, sensing...something. Something unusual. He cannot quite put his finger on it just yet... Stopped in his tracks, he carefully looks around. No one around: he hasn't seen a single person in this village. But he can't rid himself of the feeling that someone is nearby. He focuses his senses. ....Yes, someone is definitely there. Mithos begins walking in the direction in which he senses the other presence.]
[It takes a few seconds before Yuan is certain Mithos is headed his way. He curses inwardly, pressing up against the wall before sidling towards the other side of the building. If he's fast, he may be able to make a swift escape in the other direction without being spotted.]
[Coming closer, Mithos is struck by the realization that he knows this mana signature. His body tenses. His senses may be a shadow of their former glorious selves, but he is sure that he knows whoever is nearby. Is that person...hiding? His eyes narrow.]
[A few more steps. Realization part two: Yuan. That bastard is here. Mithos's eyes flash coldly like steel. He halts, deciding to speak now instead of bothering to come closer. Drag the pathetic, traiterous dog out.]
[Yuan's almost made it to the other side of the house when Mithos speaks up, causing him to instantly freeze again. Immediately, he starts weighing his options. He could flee the scene, but what good would that do him? Now that Mithos knows he's here, he's going to be hunted down either way. Might as well stand tall and bluff his way out. His powers may be diminished in Luceti, but that same weakness applies to Mithos.
One last steadying breath, then he walks out from his hiding place, holding his head high.]
[Should have known it was Yuan - deception has always been his thing. Mithos's eyes harden into a glare as Yuan reveals himself. He rigidly holds his chin up in an attempt to compensate for his lack of height. He won't let his former companion have an edge over him in any way.]
I wouldn't know. I don't concern myself with the psychology of filthy, traiterous dogs.
[He'd been expecting an attitude like this, and Mithos certainly didn't fail to deliver. It pains Yuan that despite everything, his old friend still can't accept that he was wrong. If he did, they wouldn't be in this mess in the first place. Still, Yuan's already come to terms with the fact that Mithos is beyond salvation. All he can do now is try to minimize the damage Cruxis' former leader leaves in his wake.]
I was only traitorous to your deluded goals. And I won't hesitate to raise my weapon against you in this place, should there be a need.
Your attempts to justify your actions are pathetic. You betrayed Martel.
[Even just seeing him, just thinking about it, makes him want to lash out at something. Preferably Yuan himself. And violently. To his great frustration and annoyance, however, he realizes that without his Cruxis Crystal he is essentially useless against Yuan. This only makes him want to lash out at him even more. Of course, he isn't about to let Yuan know any of this. Time to bluff: he scoffs derisively.]
I'm not about to waste my time and efforts on someone like you.
[Martel... The mere mention of her is like a quick jab to Yuan's chest. Still, he knows he did the right thing. Mithos was the one who sullied her memory and caused countless people to suffer in her name. He doesn't need to justify anything.]
Believe what you want to believe, it hardly matters. As long as you find a way to behave yourself, there's no need for us to clash.
Do not patronize me. Do you think you're better than me, simply because you won? [Because, obviously, everything Mithos has ever done was for Martel's sake, and there is no higher moral calling.]
Innocent! [Bitter and rather unsettling laughter. This is going well.] Not a single person in that broken-down world is innocent. Anyone who has ever judged, hated, oppressed - none of them can claim innocence. The whole world was diseased.
Diseased or not, it was our world. The lands we had vowed to protect. Eradicating all human life because you feel even the smallest misstep puts someone on the same scale as a murderer is insanity. Not even the great Hero of legend has the right to make such judgments.
Why should I keep a promise to protect a world that failed to protect me, that failed to protect Martel? You have no right to lecture me. Who are you to decide what is right or wrong?
Anyone who hurts people senselessly is wrong. That's why I'm telling you right now that if I catch you with a toe out of line here, I won't stand by idly.
[Of course, Yuan knows perfectly well he's hurt plenty of people in his lifetime. So many, he's lost count. The difference is that he knows that was wrong, and not a single person was killed if he could avoid it.]

There were no winners in our little 'game'. Innocent people were killed, Mithos, and it's high time you understood that.
