Chem final's done. Thankfully we took the American Chemical Society's standardized exam -- which amounts to relaxation after Dr. Kunz's tests (imagine the toughest chemistry problems you've ever done being the first step in a new process you've never seen before and have to figure out during the exam -- then do it ten times -- that's what I've ( Read more... )

*sighs* Damn, I have to read the Mallorean yet before I get to Belgarath the Sorcerer. You're statement suddenly puts a bit of damper on my excitement for Eddings' writing, but I'll have to see for myself I guess...

Don't worry, the Mallorean is brilliant and fun. I just have a distinct preference for image-driven narrative -- Eddings' series are exactly that, the background books are a little different. I can send you the Belgareth and Polgara books if you want (my sister took the Mallorean with her to Virginia, so no luck there).

I finished the Mallorean in less than a week. You were right, that is an excellent series. :) I want to read the background novels because I'd like to know more about Belgarath and Polgara. I'm waiting for the public library to email me and tell me they are ready for me to pick up and check out. I think that Eddings' did a better job tying up the loose ends in this first series of books than he did in The Elenium and The Tamuli series which I was glad about. Yay image driven narrative and an author that takes the time to add dimension to all of his characters no matter how tiny a role they play in the story!!
