Iruka rubbed gently at the bridge of his nose, eyes closed and trying to will his headache away. Beside him, Naruto was trying to make the best of the situation. “She wasn’t that bad!”

“She was a whole foot taller than me.”

Naruto just shrugged. “So she’s tall, so what? She was nice! She liked sports and kids and you’d never have to worry about getting something off a tall shelf.”

Iruka tried not to grimace too obviously. “Weight-lifting isn’t the kind of sport I’m interested in. And it’s a little creepy that she could have bench-pressed three of me.”

“It means she’s strong! She’s not even a jounin but I bet she could go toe to toe with Tsunade-baa-san!”

Iruka shook his head; the throbbing wasn’t going away. “Naruto, I’m trying to be delicate, but, she . . . well, isn’t really fond of men. That way.”

The little blonde looked crestfallen breifly. “But that’s why I thought it would work out for you; I mean, you’re not exactly the manliest man in the village.”

Iruka’s eyes snapped open, blinking in confusion at the boy in front of him. His mouth hung open, completely in shock, a look of utter betrayal on his face.

Naruto just smiled, waving one hand airily. “Oh come on, there’s nothing wrong with that! I mean, really, who are the two manliest men you can think of? Gai and Ibiki, easy, and those two are destined to be single forever.”

“Ibiki’s been dating Anko for more than two years,” Iruka muttered, starting to feel sick. “And Gai and Lee are . . . n-nevermind.”

Naruto hadn’t even heard him. “And I mean, it’s pretty obvious that girls like guys that are kinda like girls anyway.”

“W-what do you mean?” He was afraid to know.

“Oh, you know. Look at Sasuke! He’s such a pretty-boy wimp and the girls fall all over him. And Neji! He’s swimming in the ladies when looking at him you might think he’s one of them.”

Iruka didn’t know what had gotten this little boy set on getting him a girlfriend, but unfortunately he was equally oblivious as to how to stop the boy’s well-intended efforts. He’d already been set up several dates - the girl that worked at the café, Kurenai, Hana Inuzuka, the ramen shop owner’s daughter, this latest body-building candidate, Tenten . . . Iruka wasn’t sure how Naruto had thought that one would work and had realized then that the little blonde had next to no concept of anyone’s age other than ‘younger’ ‘older’ or ‘same’ as himself.

One of the worst had been Akane, Shino’s older cousin and a fairly high-ranking member of the Aburame family. The Aburames and the Hyugas were the closest thing Konoha had to Yakuza clans and when Iruka’s blind date had taken a shine to him and taken him home to meet the family, he had found himself staring down more than one person that could arrange him to have an ‘accident’ with a single word. There hadn’t been a way out of that one and he’d been unable to do anything but nod and try not to anger anyone in the room. Akane had shown him her eyes; it was as good as a proposal and Iruka thanked his lucky stars that ‘daddy’ hadn’t approved of him, cancelling any further pursuit.

The Hyuga girl Naruto had tried to set him up with had stood him up, thankfully sparing the teacher a repeat of all that drama. But he was still looking over his shoulder, worried he’d be caught in some feud between the two families.

“Say, Iruka-sensei, have you ever thought about dating a guy?” The teacher snapped out of his memories to focus on Naruto again, a blank look on his face. The whiskered boy just grinned at him. “It’s possible, you know. For two guys to date and stuff.”

“Stuff?” Iruka managed to squeak.

“Yeah, kissing and making out and sex and stuff.” He said it so bluntly, so matter of factly, that Iruka had no reply, just gaping like a landed fish. Naruto laughed at the look and shrugged. “Ero-Sennin has some stories like that.”

That statement found Iruka’s voice. “You - you know about . . . you read those?!”

“Well, yeah.” Another shrug of indifference. “Some of them have really good stories. I mostly skip over all the gross stuff, but you can learn a lot from them! He has all sorts of ones about guys and girls, sometimes more than one. And a lot of ones that are just two girls. And he has some that are two guys.” That sick feeling in Iruka’s stomach was getting steadily worse, but Naruto just kept going. “I didn’t used to like them at all, but now I think they’re kinda neat, I never knew a lot of stuff, ya know? Ask Kakashi-sensei, he reads ‘em. Hey!” Iruka cringed at the bright, suddenly hopeful tone. “You should date Kakashi-sensei!”

The teacher shivered, truly scared at that statement. “No, Naruto-“

“Yeah, it’s perfect! You’re both strong ninja, you’re both teachers, you both know me. He’s kinda flakey, but you can keep him in line!”

“Naruto, wait-“

“I even know where to find him! I think I do, anyway. I’ll bring him to Ichiraku’s in an hour, okay? We’ll have a good meal and you two can talk about Ero-Sennin’s books!”

Iruka shuddered again, more violently at the suggested conversation topic. “Please, Naruto-!” The blonde was already running off down the street, eager to set his plan into motion.

An hour and a half later found Iruka hunched over his bowl of ramen. He was poking vaguely at the noodles with one hand while the other propped his head up, his thumb digging into the pressure point at his temple to try and relieve the throbbing headache. Kakashi was on his left, similarly poking at his food without eating while Naruto was on the man’s other side, speaking in his usual loud tones.

“So the warrior has no idea where he is and he’s already done stuff with the girly looking guy - I didn’t read it through, but I think that one might actually be a girl - and he gets another guy and then those two go at it . . .”

Kakashi leaned discreetly towards the miserable teacher, muttering softly enough that Naruto’s explanation nearly covered his words. “Try and hang in there. Jiraiya only has three yaoi stories and he’s already mentioned two of them.”

“No,” Naruto quickly corrected, “he’s got four, it’s just not out yet.”

Kakashi blinked and focused on the blonde. He hesitated a moment, trying to be considerate of his unwilling ‘date’, but his curiosity had been peaked and he couldn’t help the interest in his voice as he spoke. “You know what’s in the new book?”

Naruto nodded like he was some great authority. “Yeah, there’s one that’s these four girls, and another story about the old man from Paradise and then this one with the two guys. See, there’s this guy Akuri-“ There was a sudden thud as Iruka’s head slipped from his hand onto the counter. Kakashi turned from Naruto to glance sidelong at the man, catching both the reaction and what had caused it, but Naruto continued as if nothing happened. “-He’s a teacher at the local school. And he goes through town doing all sorts of things to all sorts of people. This guy they call Mann and the town slacker, Shika. At one point some of his students-“

Kakashi clamped a hand over the boy’s mouth, cutting off any further narration of the story. “Stop, stop, I don’t want to ruin the surprise.” Behind him, Iruka had begun banging his head slightly, the thud a consistant rhythm. Naruto finally looked around the masked man at his former sensei, a question of concern muffled by Kakashi’s hand. The white haired man leaned close to him with a grin. “Why don’t you do me a favor, okay? You know those parts of the story you don’t read? I think I want to take Iruka-sensei somewhere for some of that. I’ll buy you another bowl of ramen, and you stay here and give us some private time, all right?”

Naruto smiled so wide it looked like his face would crack, nodding enthusiastically and ordering the largest bowl he could as soon as he was released. Kakashi kindly handed the owner enough money for their meal and a few extra bowls, knowing how Naruto ate. Then he wrapped one hand gently around Iruka’s arm and pulled him to his feet, leading him from the building. They walked for several minutes before Kakashi finally smiled at the teacher. “If it makes you feel better, I can garauntee he really isn’t reading any of the X-rated bits.”

“Akuri!” The teacher lamented loudly. “With Mann? And Shika!”

Kakashi shook his head a bit. “If Jiraiya’s going to base his characters on us, he could at least be more discreet with his naming.”

“Students. Students!”

“You don’t know what he was going to say, maybe his students throw him a birthday party.”

“I know people who read these things! You don’t care, but what about my other friends; what about parents? I’m not stupid, I know a lot of people buy these things and read them in secret-“

Iruka suddenly broke off as he was pushed against a wall, soft lips pressed against his. His hands hovered in the air, unsure what to do as his mind suddenly registered that he was being kissed by Sharingan Kakashi. And he was kissing back. A slick tongue traced across the teacher’s bottom lip and his mouth slipped open, granting the other man access.

Kakashi shifted his hands slowly from the teacher’s shoulders, one to his waist, the other up into his hair. Carefully he pulled away the man’s hairtie until he could grip the loose strands, all the while he explored the man’s mouth. When he finally did pull away, Iruka was flushed and panting, but he was quiet. “It’s just a book. No one will ever admit they know who ‘Akuri’ is supposed to be, because most of them would never admit they read the books.” Iruka blinked for a moment before nodding dumbly. “Feel better?” Another nod.

Kakashi waited for more reaction than that. He blinked and grinned, a little confused, as the teacher’s cheeks slowly tinted red. He realized the man was staring at his uncovered mouth and smiled more widely as the flush deepened until finally the teacher opened his mouth. “S-so were you s-serious? Ab-bout showing me those, those, th-“

Kakashi leaned forward and kissed him again, breifly this time and chuckled as he pulled away. “You blush and now you stutter, too?” At this, the other flushed even darker. “Well, I was just trying to get Naruto to shut up. But . . .” he made a point of studying the man, looking him up and down. “No, I don’t think I’d have a problem with that.” His hand was still entangled in Iruka’s hair and he pulled gently at the strands. Iruka moaned, letting his head fall back, then moaned louder as Kakashi nipped at his exposed neck.

Kakashi pulled back, releasing the teacher, and by the time the brunette looked at him, his mask was back in place. “When you do get the next Icha Icha,” Iruka muttered, “I need to borrow it.”

Kakashi nodded, leading the other towards his home. “I could lend you all of them, you know. They really are well written. Some of them, anyway.”

Iruka shook his head, staring firmly at the street in front of him. He barely made a noise, but Kakashi thought he made out a request for a ‘practical demonstration’. Behind his mask, Kakashi’s grin widened even more.
