This turn actually surprised me a little, too. The characters turned on me and said it was going to happen and I had a moment of "Crap, I can't have a kinda-sorta-crush scene between Iruka and a twelve-year-old! Wait, no, I haven't said *anything* about Naruto's age in this fic. Yes, I can make this work!" Don't you love when characters get great ideas for themselves?

Poor Iruka. I'm glad Kakashi came in for the save. Naruto kissing him would have been traumatic (for me and I think for Iruka too).
