The problem with spending a little too much time analyzing FBorFW and every little continuity error, oversight, spelling mistake, inconsistent characterization, drawing style, lettering...er...what was I saying again?  Oh yes, the problem with being a bit obsessive is that it renders me terribly self-conscious when doing my own work, even the stuff ( Read more... )

Hey, thanks for the shout-out. I know exactly what you mean about becoming self-conscious about your own work in light of the foobsessiveness. I have to keep reminding me that the perfect is the enemy of the good and give myself permission to fall short of the awesomeness I picture in my head. :)

I recently picked up a set of speedball pens and nibs via eBay, but I still need to buy ink! Ergggg.

Don't think I've tried speedball pens yet. I've tried a fine felt-tip at first, and then these ones were done with a gel ballpoint. Today I bought a different permanent marker for doing the panel frames and some liquid ink rollerball pens just in case they have a more uniform line than the gel pen did when going over the pencil (HB -- I'm not sufficiently creative to do fancy shading...yet). I was doing panel frames yesterday using the side of a piece of cardboard because my daughter didn't want to share her hot pink Disney Princess ruler and I couldn't find another.

Now that I've got pens and paper more or less sorted and seem to be scanning at the right resolution, it's back to thinking about the story and waiting for inspiration to strike. I've a number of storylines for various characters but need to take this current one forward a little bit before I can start them.
