The Pattersims: The Ghost of Elly Patterson

Jan 10, 2010 19:59

Once again it is party time at my Sims' place.  They've invited the Pattersims, who have RSVP'd in force.  L-R: Mike, Elly, one of my Sims' twins, elder Liz dancing with unknown guest, elder Dee dancing with Robin, unknown guest dancing with Meredith.  (Why is Mike still an adult when his wife and younger sister are elders?  Is that the benefit of ( Read more... )

I have no idea, but the day after the hybrid picnic I discovered that the Pattermanse was vacant, Liz, Robin and Meredith no longer have an address in town, Dee is living on her own and elder Mike and adult April have moved into this tiny train house on the corner, down the street from the Pattermanse. It's completely unfurnished and there's just one pink flamingo in the front yard. Mike answered the door when my Sim rang the bell, but wouldn't invite her in. What has happened? Where are the rest of the Pattersons?

That's just weird; I wonder if this scenario is what might have happened had the strip been allowed to continue.

It does make me wonder what would have happened, as John and Elly wouldn't be around to foot the bills for their kids anymore. Could Mike and his family still afford the general running costs of the Pattermanse on his royalty cheques and her sewing school fees? Perhaps the whole sewing school was a polite way of saying that Dee had to take in piece work to make ends meet ( ... )

Mike was unemployed, but it would appear that his Sim had at least managed to write one book because two of the interactions I could choose when speaking to him were "Praise fantastic book" and "Criticize lousy book".

It's not hard to see which one you picked; it's sort of sad that Dee died alone and the Patterspawn have vanished but it's also sort of what I expected to happen.

Sims move out of the neighborhood randomly in Sims 3. The game is, sadly, very poorly designed. Here's a link to a website with mods that fix a lot of the problems: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?PHPSESSID=f5e4aa4c07c38884b32d5c69bb1d508b

WARNING WARNING: J.M. Pescado is an excellent modder. The website, though, is inhabited by a lot of, um, let's call them not-very-nice people and leave it at that. (I once got sucked in there and it's not something I'm proud of. Ah, the internet.)

Thanks for the link. There are some really interesting things there, definitely worth checking out. I wasn't really upset about the Pattersims vanishing, though: I thought it a realistic touch. I wasn't playing as them, and my Sims weren't really close friends with the younger generation, plus Liz returned on her own and moved in with Mike and April.

Okami arrived in yesterday's post, so am looking forward to trying that, too!
