Fascism in the name of democracy, or something

My company has decided to change security policies. As such, I'm no longer allowed to use any instant messaging at work. It still works, for now...

Email is still allowed.

Suckage. *sympathizes and stares at the tempting-but-not-allowed MSN Messenger icon in the Start menu*

We recently had MSN Messenger (I think) set up for in-house IMing, but I haven't been able to IM outside the perimeter. :(

Sorry, I see no issue with this at all.

I think people who *can* use it are lucky and oughta realize it.

I can get to AIM at school, but I won't.

LJ is blocked, but I could get a kid to show me how to get to the proxy server, but I won't.

I need to be able to focus at work, and I completely understand employers who don't want their employees on the Internet for anything other than company business.

GTalk seems to work for me at work, where none of the others do. Netstat says it's because it's on the same port at https. Can you ssh home? You could run Finch in a terminal, or depending on the speed, Pidgin in X. You wouldn't be using it "at work" then, you'd be using it "from home" :) *hugs*
