In Which Our Hero Remains the Hero

Yesterday was .. fun.

After all of Thursday, 6 hours on my Friday "day off", a few hours on Sunday, and Monday morning, I walked into a meeting at 1pm and the customer said "the project is canceled. Convince me that I want to keep going." I knew it was going to be bad, but I didn't know it was so bad.

This is the one that I took over to try to get results.

After about an hour of fast talking on three people's parts, he said "I need to think." Four hours later, we had approval to continue. Which is good, since at least one person at this company was hired specifically for this project, and I don't know if we have anything else for her to do if we lose this funding.

Oh, my aching head. As a result, I slept very poorly.

Management. I'm going to be doing the review of 'my' employee. I'm also going to be getting at least one more programmer on my project, and the boss wants me to pick him.

It looks, at least, like I've set realistic deadlines for this project. So far. Well, OK, no, I set Scotty-style goals. I think I can bring it in well below my estimates.
