I hope today goes well, in spite of nasty men and noses and clothes-despair. My Dad always said to turn up at interview in a suit with slightly frayed cuffs, immaculately clean and pressed. I turned up for one interview immaculate and business-like to the last hair - which was up in a bun wrapped round with a child's spider scrunchie! In purple - with teeth!

I got the job. I still wear the scrunchie...

As for the loud man: YES! DO call the council. If he then turns up on your door at two AM smelling of booze and harangues you, call the police. Threatening behaviour and all that. One call-out should be enough to convince him you mean business.
