My favourite bit in P&P is the "Dance". Just how many jibes like those could be expressed on the dance floor now? It's too difficult to be heard, let alone getting the point home!

If you like Canova, have a look at what was happening in Italy in the mid-nineteenth century - if you dig your way past the equestrian statues and busts of worthies, there's some quite nice stuff around; Vincenzo Vela is one I'm getting an overdose of at the moment.
