Fuck Delta, take 2

Surprise, surprise, my return flight to NYC is delayed at least an hour. Seriously fuck delta. I just heard the pilot talking to the copilot, apparantly when they were on the plane and doing the routine preflight check, the oxygen masks randomly dropped and they had to switch planes. As of an hour past my flight time, they hadn't even taken off ( Read more... )

Oh give me a break, an hour is nothing.

I flew to Toronto on Friday, got to Minniapolis after a 3 hour flight next to a mentally handicapped guy who smelled bad, delayed 4 hours there, boarded the plane, waited another hour, told us the flight was cancelled. Spent an hour getting a hotel coupon. Got to the hotel, slept for 3 hours, went back to the airport, flew to Detroit, took a bus to the other terminal to catch the next flight on a different airlines, "Sorry, they need to print a receipt before we can give you a board pass", go back to first terminal, get receipt, go to other terminal, "When does that flight leave? You better hurry", get to the gate and go to the desk to get a seat, "Sorry, you need to be on the manifest 45 minutes before take off", she makes a few calls, "What, you want me to just let him board?", she gives me a hand written note with a seat on it, "You can go sit on the plane, but we'll probably take you off", I sit on the plane, they close the door, fly to Toronto, bags are no where to be found.

Well that's what you get for going to Canada. My point being, I never have problems with Jetblue. And being delayed 2 hours each time for a 45 minute flight is definitely excessive. It's complete bullshit that this is the state of the industry and people just sit back and take it because there's nothing you can do about it. You would think that with all these fancy adding machines and computer boxes that they could schedule things and it would run a little more smoothly. But to them, its more profitable to overbook and run flights late, so why bother?

I can't pretend to understand the airline industry, but I'd wager it's more complicated than what we see it to be.
