I downloaded the XP publishing tool and am having some issues. I've used a similar tool with my domain host's gallery software forever without any problems, but when I select scrapbook instead of gallery for uploading, it gives me this error ( Read more... )

Do you have any periods in the filenames?

no, but there are underscores. The camera names them that way by default.

Same exact thing is happening to me. I even re-downloaded the .rg file for the xp publishing wizard and tried it again, but still got the same result. I used to use this to upload my pics to LJ all the time and had no problems.. but lately it tells me the same thing you just posted. :(

It's apparently because the file names assigned by the camera have something other than a letter or number in them. I just switched to Flickr and said to hell with this crap. I don't have time to mess with changing the filename of every picture I want to post, nor do I have time to upload them one at a time via the web interface.

Hmmm.. that might be the problem..

but what's wierd is that even images of mine like "shadow.jpg" that have no wierd numbers or spaces or letters in the filename are still being rejected.. I wonder if the compression of the JPG has anything to do with it?

Have you found a way around this (have you ever gotten the XP wizard to work right by changing the names of your pics?)

Flickr.. I've heard of that. But I really like my LJ scrapbook.. I just hate having to upload one picture at a time from the web interface. They should at least have a feature that lets you upload more than one picture at a time. It would save us alot of time and energy.

I found an old version of the fotobilder upload tool that you can download and use to upload pics to your scrapbook. However, it is merely a simple tool that uploads into your "Unsorted" gallery. Then you have to go in from there and select the photos and move them to whichever gallery you would like. But it works well, and it allows you to upload more than one picture at a time to your scrapbook. (yay!) :)

Here is the url to download the client:

I have no idea if there is a new client out or not.. but this one works.
