"Glee defangs the Rocky Horror"

Just watched the Rocky Horror Glee Show. I've finally done so after having read tons of contradicting reviews from lots of different people.

When it comes to the quality of the episode, I'd say I have nothing to say. I mean, characters behaving strangely in order to fulfill this week's episode's music demands is nothing new for Glee. I'd say it was ( Read more... )

And that, my friend, is why I'm relieved that Fox didn't buy Torchwood.

Well she still said she was a "sweet transvestite" (or did she? can't remember if they cut that out as well)

I just watched it last night, but I haven't seen Rocky Horror, and had no idea they changed the lyrics. Considering Will's speech at the end about them all being outsiders, the replacement of the word "transexual" seems especially bad. Like you say, why was Will and Emma's incredibly sexual number ok, and yet just singing the word "transexual" not? It doesn't make any sense.

Even when they were promoting the episode, they were talking about how the Rocky is a film for people who feel that they don't "fit in". Well, way to make them feel welcome! Even just saying the words is apparently too controversial for Glee.
And as I said, it's their weird compromise that I don't understand. I don't know why anyone would want to put on a Rocky by cutting out every single sexual reference, but at least that would make sense.
