Things I've learnt since having a baby that people didn't tell me:

- when people say your body will never be the same I assumed they meant stretch marks or flabby skin but my while menstral cycle and side effects have changed and not for the better.
- People say when you go into labour you will know. Well considering the last part of pregnancy can ( Read more... )

I know what you mean about the first two. It took me ages to notice I was in labour, and I had totally done it before. Plus I am still waiting for a normal cycle five months later. Hopefully when you have your new house you'll be in easier public transport distance for people. And of course once you are back at work you won't be isolated, so you just need to stay sane until then.

Luckily I managed my sanity by attending sure start and making new mates. I will really them when I go. I now tend to leave the house every day even if its just to walk and Freddy is now accustomed to going out and gets grumpy when he's in all day .

Agree with all that.

I've done quite a bit of going to the Sure Start centre and getting to know other mums too. I've got the car, which is cool, but feeling very exercise deprived and glued to the sofa so trying to make sure that when I get out of the house I walk rather than drive as much as possible.

My body is also not recovered. Weight loss fine, but without wanting to get too gory my undercarriage is not fine. Forceps delivery is not a gentle process.

I love seeing Arthur develop, gaining new capabilities by the day, learning new things, it's fascinating for both me and Karl. He's a brilliant dad and I love watching him and Arthur together. I have no idea how single mums cope.

I now look at single mums and think they are some kind of heroes

They are! So much admiration for Karl's mum who raised her child and looked after ageing parents all while working a full-time job
