The Weekend in Review - Busy busy busy!
On Friday night I ran sound and lights for the Monkey Business Institute improv show at The Glass Nickel. That was fun. I hadn't done it a while since I was busy doing "Hot L Baltimore". I wouldn't want to do it every Friday night, but I like being in the rotation. I learn so much just watching the experienced performers, and it's fun being able to contribute sound effects and stuff.
On Saturday I didn't accomplish much during the day except a few loads of laundry. Saturday night I knew of a couple of different parties, and had initially planned on trying to put in appearances at both. Instead, I fell asleep. I woke up at about 11:00 p.m. and decided to make it to one of the parties. I went to the Mercury Lounge to catch up with people who were gathered in honor of Jennifer Pluff's visit to Madison. Jennifer moved to New York about 3 years ago to work on the New York production of Walmartopia and she has been back in town all week before starting work on a new show in New York this week. There were a handful of people I knew there, including rob_matsushita and m0rrigan. I wasn't feeling great, but I hung out until about 1:00 a.m. before calling it a night.
Yesterday I road-tripped to Menomonee Falls for a belated birthday celebration for my mother. Her birthday was actually the previous weekend, but my brother was out of town then, so we put off the gathering until he was back. He brought the kids down and we all went out to lunch. We hung out for the afternoon, then I came back to town for Poker Night!
We hadn't played in ages, but Jennifer was gung ho to get a game in before going back to New York, so she motivated us to make it happen. spanish_jackie hosted. Also in attendance were rob_matsushita, Monty, Megan, and Casey. It was fun! Hopefully we can make it a habit again. I came in 2nd in the first game and won the second game, so it was definitely worth it to me. Normally, I don't even care about the momney, but truthfully I can really use the extra $25.00 right now.
I gace Rob a ride home then went home and crashed. I should have gotten a really early start today, because I have tons of work to do. Instead I came in about 9 and have had a hard time accomplishing much of anything. I guess it's a typical Monday.
