Good cellphone service?

Hey everyone -- I'm coming to Stanford for grad school this fall. By a wonderful coincidence, my cellphone contract just ended and I'm looking to get something that works a little better. Does anyone have any recommendations for a cellphone company with decent local service?

yeah, i have cingular and it works well.

cingular and sprint work really well. NEVER GET VERIZON, i have that and the only way i can get good signal is if i am literally off-campus

From what I understand, Cingular has an exclusive contract for towers on/near the Stanford campus. Which would explain why my Cingular works fantastically there.

yep, pretty much cingular. Other stuff works, but its really hit or miss and luck. They do have an exclusive contract, so on the outskirts of campus other stuff will work, but Cingular is pretty much it.
