Hey everyone, like all of you, Stanford is my dream school. I'm a junior and I'd like all the help I can get with my application for next year. I'm applying SCEA, by the way. My stats are basically like this:

Seriously.
Stanford wants people, not perfect... things. Breathe. Concentrate on what makes you happy, go after that, and don't worry about counting your achievements.

And more to the point of the post. I'm tired of analyzing these things, so I'm not. But think of it like this - I got a 1590 in old SAT days, had a 4.0 unweighted, did all those great extracurriculars, had essays that made my current gilrfriend fall for me, first generation, huge homo and that didn't make me an easy in at all. But what helped (IMO) was that I didn't stress and try to make a perfect app. I just wanted to get into U of Oregon and not OSU and otherwise I figured no one would want me - so there was no pressure. I didn't obsess over this junior year, I didn't apply early, I didn't do the things most Stanford students did to get in. Hell I didn't even proofread.
So there you go - I am a failure in being a Stanford stressed out applicant. But I think that my lack of obsessing over fancy schools showed through in the application, which Stanford really likes - they can't stand those people out for their name

But somehow, they knew I was right for the school. I wanted to come here because of the academic philosophy, the atmosphere, the environment... My mom wanted me to come here because it was Stanford, but so? Nicole put it really well. They can't stand those people out for their name.
So I guess you need to decide which category you're in.
PS. I love you too, Nicole!
