I have Verizon and it gets spotty reception, but not enough for me to switch away from my family plan. It's definitely better than 2 years ago, when there were only a few places with about a 10-ft radius where I got reception. Now it's about 1 bar or better all over the place except near big concrete buildings. I'm not sure about Rains, though. I'd assume that it would be about the same.
But bottom line? I prefer free Verizon-to-Verizon calls versus switching over to AT&T, thank you very much.
i've never had verizon (always was at&t) but i have to say i've never had a dropped call on campus and there is literally ONE place on campus (in a basement) where i don't get reception. everywhere else my calls are perfect. my verizon friends... not so much. but they live with it and only a few have actually SWITCHED, so...
I haven't lived near Rains in two years but anecdotal evidence this month shows that Verizon service is still terrible in that part of campus. If you don't mind having to check your phone when you're elsewhere, don't worry about it, but if you prefer to make and receive calls in the comfort of your living space, I highly recommend switching to another service provider.
