Stanford's Olympic Medal standing

So...I'm a Cal grad student (**take it easy people**) knee deep in a quirky debate with one of my Stanford pals. I was wondering if one of you fine Cardinal minds might be able to help us reach a resolution.

Scour harder! :p On the front page of that Official Stanford Olympic page is a link clearly written in English: "Medal count." Took me all of six seconds to find. That link is here: http://gostanford.cstv.com/sports/olympics/spec-rel/08-medalcount.html

Stanford will improve its count with several team sports (volleyball, water polo, softball, etc) concluding play near the end of the Games.

Ok, gotcha. Thanks. (~:

(Lol...yes, I think Stanford will do well in water polo. Your school is full of the half-fish, half-genius sort. We do more with the Jason Kidd landlubber-types).

Don't tell that to your reigning NCAA champion men's water polo team...!

Cal does fine in water sports (viz Coughlin). Stanford had a rash of terrible circumstances that resulted in a few athletes in different sports not making their respective Olympic teams--Tara Kirk being the poster child for a snake-bitten selection process.

i also assume that those medal counts only count team wins once if there are multiple athletes on that team. for example i know we have 3 former women's water polo players on the us team.

biggest surprise for me: kerri walsh is a stanford grad, '00
