I befriend anyone who reverts/transverts within the Abrahamic, as I have done (Jan 17, 2003). We all learn together, so hopefully you'll friend me back. Have you picked a Muslim name yet?
salam sholom peace & all of the above. I have seen you around 3faithdialogue & english majors a lot. Think we have A LOT in common. I start my student teaching (English Lit!) next fall. Convert to Islam- but I find my peaceful shelter from the storm in Sufism. Add me back if you want to!
I will add you back, provided you don't mind that I'm no longer Muslim (I converted a couple years ago, but recently left the faith). I can understand if you may not like that. But if you are okay with that, then I'm glad to add you. :)
No worries! I am as laid back as converts come I think. Just like every religion, Islam is saturated in politics & cultural traditions. I try to find the heart of Islam- but I am on the mystic path. There is only one Path, but many religions are paths to the Path. If I could be like Pi, I would (loved that book). I love to meet and befriend seekers. As I once heard an old pastor say "a seeking non-Christian [or Muslim] is better than a non-seeking Christian [or Muslim]". I am both interested in reading about your search and about your life as an English teacher, as I start student teaching 12th grade English next fall!!! Huzzah! thanks for adding me back!
Awesome, I'm already loving your open-mindedness. :) And I agree, Pi was a great book (but so many people don't like it! Why not?).
Good luck with the student teaching! I have a tough group of twelfth graders. It's a diverse mix as far as their ablities go because of the nature of our school, so it's tough to reach all the different levels. But I hope you like it. It can be frustrating, but it's still a very rewarding job.
