Here in Oregon we are limited to 4 dark geese (Canada goose species) of which 2 may be Cackling Canada Geese or Aleutian Canada Geese. Both are small geese, about the size of a Mallard duck

Too bad they don't let people shoot them in public parks, golf courses, office parks and shopping malls. They are to the 'burbs what pigeons are in the city; they congregate by the hundreds, anywhere that has a small drainage pond. There's so much goose poop you can't help stepping in it. And they're huge, and more inclined to fight with people than run - they hiss and snap at anyone who wants to walk down the sidewalks in the parks.
Yeah, resident Western Canada geese can really be a handful... they are noisy, obnoxious, dirty fowl when they have the comfort and safety of huge numbers.
I'm using my Remington 870 in 12ga with 3" loads. Been using Black Cloud... not too happy with them... hey hit hard, but it also takes a lot more to get the hit... I found myself with a great deal on a box of HeviShot and found it to be pretty good stuff, but the Kent Hi-Speed Steel seems to do the job just fine.
Sorry I meant NFA, National Firearms Act. Too much work on the brain,NFPA is National Fire Protection Act. :$
I've never used BC, who manu's it? Rem or Fed stuff seems to be the best but every shotgun is unique on what it patterns best with. I used some 10 ga #2 hevi-shot on Spig once... let's say at 25 yds (vertically over the blind), they were raining from the sky, literally. >.< Kent seems to work ok, of the bargain stuff it beats the pants off Fiocci.
I'm gonna guess that we're not, then, as I've never had to be concerned about it... more research tells me that I guess I don't understand the question.
Black Cloud is from Federal. They use a blend of standard steel and a belted steel pellet (which is a little larger than the standard) in a special wad that doesn't flower out like most wads to, it has braking arms that pop out as if flies... makes for a shorter shot string and supposedly adds a little bit to your reach-out-and-touch-'em. I'm of the opinion that it's mostly hype... sure they pattern alright and they've knocked down a few birds for me, but I'm pretty happy with the cheap-ass Kent loads... I like the hevi-shot (mostly 'cause it's local) but it's one the spendy side of things... I can't afford to put that much into ducks and geese... think that I'd rather just save the cash and pick my shots...

That's it, I'm moving. BTW, is Oregon an NFPA state?
