I've gotta run to do a tour, but Chelsea Clinton spoke on campus and came with a hobbit/Notre Dame football legend.

John McCain spoke today, but I didn't get a ticket :(

May 30th there is an Enloe High Alumni Band performance. The Facebook even has a lot of people I have never seen before, so this looks like a real effort to get everyone who's ever played at Enloe to come back. It's being conducted by David Rockefeller, who was the director at Enloe before Tom Jenner, so it'd really be a stretch to expect anyone ( Read more... )

Yesterday and today I gave tours. Luckily I had help, seeing as I know NOTHING about the places I'm supposed to show like the Field Robotics Lab (Red Whittaker works here, lots of robots) and the Perlis Atrium (it's where Asiana is). Camp was very good personally. We learned drill Saturday, although the weather was quite shit. In the evening I sounded WAY better in the arc than I did last camp, and Dean actually noted it during smalls. It's funny that I just reflected so much on why come to CMU and what one would want to know before coming to CMU, because the dean of the School of Computer Science just asked for volunteers to do tours of Wean Hall (the main building for computer science) to admitted freshmen. So Facebook has piqued my interested once again. "People You May Know" is a new feature where it basically shows you friends of friends. For the computer science-minded readership (ummmm, no one?), naively you take a profile P's friends, accumulate all their friends that are not already friends to P or P itself, then rank according to frequency ( Read more... )
